When does my IFS Jeep need upper control arms?

If your Jeep is lifted and has oversize tires, you may be at risk of losing a front tire!!

When you lift the Jeep and put oversize tires on it.

The factory ball joint was not designed for the stress of the large oversized tires guys put on the Jeep WK/XK, or KJ/KK platform. The excess stress causes premature ball joint failure.  If the ball separates from the socket of the a-arms your tire will fall under the vehicle. This caused more damage than the cost of the JBA UCAs!

Keep in mind the Maximum lift is 4” on the WK/XK platform.

Example: Jeep Grand Cherokee & Commander

Before I can say the JBA UCAs (upper control arms) will fix the clearance between your strut and steering knuckle, we need to look at the ride height of your vehicle.

18.50” center of wheel to underside of fender flare is stock ride height.
21.00” center of wheel to underside of fender flare is a 2.5” lift kit.
22.50” center of wheel to underside of fender flare is a 4” lift kit.

The JBA UCAs will not work on spring lift or leveling kits over 4" of lift or 22.50” center of wheel to underside of fender flare.
