Yes, Open up the upper control arm pockets for more down travel.
This will take the stress off the upper arms and keep them from getting fatigue cracks on the ball joint mounting plate!
Use a Dremel-type tool, jig saw, cutoff wheel, or saws-all to cut down the edge of the pockets to the inner frame. Bend the sheet metal down 90 degrees with a pliers. Now you can use a saw or cut-off wheel to cut the lip off.
